This blog is inspired by Aliaa Magda Elmahdy and her brave stand for freedom in Egypt.
Aliaa's protest is against the oppressive restrictions imposed by Islamic fundamentalists on nude art, freedom of expression, freedom of thought, and women's rights in Egypt. Aliaa's photos and statements against repression and injustice show her to be a strong, courageous woman - a woman who we should all admire, support and emulate.
Repression is not exclusive to Egypt, nor is it exclusive to those parts of the world where Islamic fundamentalists are in control. In the west, Christian religious fundamentalists are just as opposed to nude art, freedom of expression and women's rights as are the fundamentalists in Egypt. While the fundamentalists in the west may not have the same level of control as the fundamentalists in Egypt, they are certainly influential and have no qualms about making their opinions known.
It does not matter where you live, or what your race is; whether you are a woman or a man, whether you are young or old, whether you are religious or an atheist - all of us have had our freedoms limited to one degree or another.
To show support for Aliaa, I have created this blog where her many supporters throughout the world may follow her brave example and post nude photos of themselves for the freedoms she seeks - freedoms we all seek. Freedoms that are our rights and our due as human beings.
To participate in Nude Photos for Freedom, please e-mail a nude photo of yourself to: nudephotorevolt@gmail.com
All photos should show some form of visible nudity. You do not have to show your face if you do not wish to, although it is preferred if you do. Also, you must be at least 18 years of age (or older, if the 'legal age' in your country is higher.)
